What Happens in Therapy

“Psychotherapy” is predominantly a talking, educational, problem-solving approach to changing troublesome behaviors and emotions.  It is only about changing what YOU choose to change.  It is not about changing others. 
Psychotherapy can be tailored to any age, to individuals, couples, and even families. 

All psychotherapy treatments are the result of an initial evaluation of one or more sessions and an agreement between the client and therapist as to the goals of therapy.  Sessions, including the first visit, are 45-50 minutes long--unless otherwise arranged.  The therapy process involves a working partnership between you and your therapist.  Therapy may last from just a few sessions to 20 or more sessions depending on the extent of your concerns and symptoms.
